Is an American multinational\u00a0energy corporation. One of the\u00a0successor companies\u00a0of\u00a0Standard Oil, it is headquartered in\u00a0San Ramon, California, and active in more than 180 countries.<\/p>\n

Chevron is engaged in every aspect of the\u00a0oil,\u00a0natural gas, and\u00a0geothermal energy\u00a0industries, Including\u00a0hydrocarbon exploration\u00a0and\u00a0production;\u00a0refining, marketing and transport; chemicals manufacturing and sales; and\u00a0power generation.<\/p>\n

Chevron is one of the world’s largest oil companies; as of 2017, it ranked nineteenth in the\u00a0Fortune 500\u00a0list of the top US\u00a0closely held and public corporations\u00a0and sixteenth on the\u00a0Fortune Global 500\u00a0list of the top 500 corporations worldwide.<\/p>\n

It was also one of the\u00a0Seven Sisters\u00a0that dominated the global petroleum industry from the mid-1940s to the 1970s. Chevron’s downstream operations manufacture and sell products such as fuels, lubricants, additives and petrochemicals. The company’s most significant areas of operations are the west coast of North America, the U.S. Gulf Coast, Southeast Asia, South Korea, Australia and South Africa. In 2010, Chevron sold an average 3.1 million barrels per day (490\u00d7103 m3\/d) of refined products like gasoline, diesel and jet fuel.<\/p>\n

Chevron’s alternative energy operations include geothermal,\u00a0solar,\u00a0wind power,\u00a0biofuel,\u00a0fuel cells, and\u00a0hydrogen. In 2011\u20132013, the company planned to spend at least $2\u00a0billion on research and acquisition of renewable power ventures.<\/p>\n

Chevron has claimed to be the world’s largest producer of\u00a0geothermal energy. In October 2011, Chevron launched a 29-MW\u00a0thermal solar-to-steam facility\u00a0in the\u00a0Coalinga Field\u00a0to produce the steam for\u00a0enhanced oil recovery. The project is the largest of its kind in the world.<\/p>\n

Caltex<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Is a petroleum brand name of\u00a0Chevron Corporation\u00a0used in more than 60 countries in the Asia-Pacific region, the\u00a0Middle East, and Southern Africa.<\/p>\n

Caltex began in 1936 as the\u00a0California Texas Oil Company, a joint venture between the Texas Company (later named\u00a0Texaco) and\u00a0Standard Oil\u00a0of California (later named\u00a0Chevron Corp.) to market oil from newly gained concessions in\u00a0Saudi Arabia. It was renamed Caltex Petroleum Corp. in 1968.
